What Happens During Your Evaluation

We start by asking what you've noticed, where the water shows up, whether it's constant or only after heavy rain, whether there's a smell, whether it's gotten worse over time. Then we walk the basement with you and look for the mechanism behind the symptom: a cracked cove joint, a downspout draining too close to the foundation, hydrostatic pressure pushing through a porous wall, or something else entirely.

A typical evaluation takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the basement and how much explaining you want along the way. We'll point out exactly what we're seeing as we go, we're not going to disappear into your basement and reappear with a number.

You leave the evaluation with a written, itemized scope, what we found, what we recommend, and what it costs, broken down by the actual work involved. There's no obligation to move forward, and no pressure tactic waiting at the end of it. If you want to think it over, get a second opinion, or wait a season, that's a normal, reasonable response and we treat it that way.

What to Have Ready

The more specific you can be about the symptom, the more useful the first conversation is. Where does the water show up, a specific wall, the floor, around a window well? When does it happen, after rain, during snowmelt, or does it seem constant? Has it gotten worse recently, or is this the first time you've noticed it? None of this needs to be exact. Even a rough answer gets us started on the right track before we ever step into your basement.
